Technical University facade mosaics
Two large smalt mosaics on the facades of adjacent teaching blocks of the Technical University of Moldova in Botanica, on bulevardul Dacia (nos. 39 and 41). The earlier panel, on the block opened in 1981, covers a whole wall in orange, blue and grey — interlocking geometric forms that complement one another, with a reference to Moscow State University (MGU), the Soviet emblem of prestigious scientific education. The later panel, on the block opened in 1988, is built from geometric shapes and lines in burgundy and beige with blue and white accents. The author is not firmly documented: a Technical University graduate thesis names Alexandr Kuzmin — chief artist of Chișinău from 1966 to 1972 and later a teacher at the Polytechnic Institute, the university's own forerunner — as the probable author of the 1988 panel, while the 1981 one is unattributed. Neither is listed in the state register of protected monuments.
