Painted terracotta panel No. 1

Sign in to check in

One of three painted-terracotta panels mounted on an apartment block at Studenților 9/8 in Râșcani — the only one still in place, the other two (No. 2 and No. 3) recorded as lost. Unlike the glass-smalt mosaics common across the city, the work is made of painted terracotta (fired-clay) tiles, a decorative technique seldom seen in Chișinău. It appears in the “Mosaics of Moldova” inventory with unprotected status; its author and year of creation remain undocumented.
