Several smalt and glazed-ceramic works on the ‘Stroitel’ sports complex («Строитель» — ‘The Builder’), at str. Victoriei 94A (formerly str. Pobedy), in the Pământeni district of Bălți, Moldova's second city. The principal work is a dynamic gymnast in a red leotard caught in motion against a teal disc — the classic sporting theme for a Soviet sports palace. Beside it are an abstract glass-and-ceramic emblem and a frieze of diamonds in a Moldovan folk pattern, red and blue, laid in glazed ceramic tile. The palette joins bright red with teal and the by-then-standard ethnographic motifs of the MSSR monumentalists. The artist and year are undocumented — the works are not on the register of monuments and do not appear in the local press. The mosaics survive in situ and were photographed by the photobankmd campaign.
