A monumental mosaic on the gable end of a Soviet apartment block (bloc locativ) at str. Ștefan cel Mare 5, in the central part of Bălți, a few hundred metres southwest of the bus station. The panel, known by its Russian title «Девушка у источника» (Girl at the Spring), shows a young woman in folk dress bending to drink from a spring that pours into a green basin — a genre scene handled in a folkloric register. The smalt is in warm tones of terracotta, ochre, blue and cream, set against a granular grey field. The work belongs to an unusually dense group of late-Soviet facade mosaics applied to the gable ends of five-storey ‘Khrushchyovka’ prefab blocks in the central micro-district — a rare concentration, systematically photographed and released under CC0 by the photographer photobankmd. Bălți is Moldova's second city, the ‘northern capital’. The author and year are not documented.
