School No. 26 mosaic, Ciocana
Two ceramic-tile mosaic panels — one to the right and one to the left of the entrance — on the facade of a school building in the Ciocana sector, on the eastern edge of Chișinău. The building housed School No. 26; in 2007 it was merged with School No. 71 and reorganised into the present-day Liceul Teoretic „Dacia”, which still operates at str. Petru Zadnipru 16/4 (the street is named after the poet Petru Zadnipru, in the Ciocana Veche quarter). The mosaics belong to the monumental-art programme that decorated Soviet schools in the 1980s — the photographer who inventoried them records them simply as „two ceramic-tile panels”, dated to the 1980s, without describing the subject in detail. The artist and exact year are undocumented; the work belongs to the wave of facade decorations executed in Chișinău across the 1970s–80s, the same milieu in which the Hămuraru brothers worked. The panels survive in situ on the lyceum building. The building identification (the 26→„Dacia” merger, the 16/4 address) is firm; the attribution specifically to „School No. 26” rests on the photographer's file names („СШ 26”) rather than an in-situ confirmation. No openly-licensed photographs of the panels exist.
