A monumental smalt mosaic panel on the north wall of the „Nicolae Botgros” Palace of Culture in Cahul (18 Bulevardul Victoriei, Centru sector), made in 1986 by the artist Gheorghii Andreevici Hadjioglov, a native of Ukraine — the same maker as the Sports School No. 1 mosaic (1989). The work shows five compositions of successive scenes dedicated to the struggle for Soviet power, framed thematically within the „propagandistic milestones” of the Soviet political-ideological system; parallel sources also describe scenes of Soviet soldiers in the Second World War and of peaceful post-war life, under the heading „the proletariat and social life in the Moldavian SSR”. The building was constructed in 1983–1984 and opened on 22 December 1984; originally the „V. I. Lenin House of Culture”, it was renamed the Palace of Culture after independence, and since 23 February 2017 it has borne the name of the folk-music conductor and violinist Nicolae Botgros. The mosaic survives and is entered in the local Register of Category B public monuments of the Cahul municipality and district (Cahul district council decision no. 03/07-V of 17 September 2020). No openly-licensed photograph of the panel exists. The work is distinct from the „Moldova” mosaic on the residential block on Strada M. Eminescu (1970s) and from the „Spicușor” kindergarten mosaics (1990) in the same town.
