The “Carpet of Life” mosaic fills the gable of the carpet factory in Ungheni (S.A. “Covoare-Ungheni”, str. Oleg Ungureanu 2), the largest carpet maker in Moldova. The panel was made in 1984 by the artist Pavel Obuh. Its figurative composition — warm smalt in golden ochre and deep blue, with figures in white robes — gathers weaver-women holding vessels and skeins, a mother cradling a child, and figures reaching toward a radiant sun: an allegory of labour and abundance fitting the “carpet of life” theme. Once listed as a monument of art of local significance, the mosaic was struck from the Register of State-Protected Monuments in 2018 (Decision no. 149 of 20 July 2018) and is now treated as a public-interest monument (monument de for public).
