Former-shop mosaic, Nicoreni
A Soviet-era mosaic on the facade of a former general store (village universal shop) in Nicoreni, a village in Drochia district, northern Moldova, attested in 1756. It belongs to a practice common across the Moldavian SSR of decorating ordinary rural public buildings — shops, kindergartens, bus shelters, milk-collection points — with mosaic panels, turning standardised architecture into local landmarks. Nothing is recorded about this panel: neither author nor year is documented and the subject is unrecorded — the sole inventory image (photo Corina Ovcearenco) is not under a free licence, and on Wikimedia Commons and Openverse the village name returns only its World War II memorial, not the mosaic. Status: unprotected.
