House-of-Culture mosaic, Mîndrești

A mosaic on the facade of the House of Culture in Mîndrești, a village in the Telenești district of central Moldova (not to be confused with Mîndreștii Noi in the Sîngerei district, which has its own mosaic bus stop). The building is a modern house of culture with a glazed entrance; the figurative panel sits on the right-hand end wall, above a decorative mosaic band that runs across the facade. The composition gathers a folk-and-labour scene — figures in folk costume, a large cluster of grapes at the centre and a radiant sun/wheel at the right — on a tessellated blue-and-yellow ground. The artist and year are undocumented, as with most of Moldova's rural mosaics. When photographed the work survived in situ, with building materials (red beams) propped in front of it.
