Moldtelecom facade mosaic
A smalt mosaic on the side wall of the Moldtelecom building — the former Moldavian SSR communications building — at the corner of Ștefan cel Mare boulevard and Tighina street, above the entrance of the old telephone exchange. Made in 1967 by Mihai Burea and Nicolae Coțofan, the panel develops the theme of communication: the globe ribbed with meridians, a white aeroplane in flight, a rotary telephone resting on an open palm, and a radiant disc (the sun / signal waves) in the upper corner — on a black ground of golden-yellow, white, crimson-red and ochre. Until independence the building housed the telecommunications service of the Moldavian SSR; the Moldtelecom company itself dates only from 1993. In December 2023 the mosaic was added to Chișinău's Register of Public Monuments (Category B).
