House-of-Culture mosaic, Ratuș

The house of culture in Ratuș, the seat of its commune in the Telenești district of central Moldova, in the valley of the Ciuluc river. Unlike the houses of culture where the mosaic clads the wings, here the main panel is set into the pediment tympanum above a two-column portico in blue: a frontal woman's face with a rich floral headdress on a ground of turquoise and blue tesserae, flanked by emblems of the arts and the harvest — a golden lyre with a laurel branch, wheat sheaves, a basket of grapes and a stylised rooster. A second, looser panel survives on a side wall: a bowed female figure among doves, a flower and a lamb on a green-and-yellow chequered field with a blue border — a pastoral, folkloric scene. The artist and year are undocumented (the photos are licensed partly CC BY 4.0, partly CC BY-SA 4.0, which reflects two photo sessions, not an attribution). The village was founded in 1908 and had 508 inhabitants in 2024. The work survives in situ; the four photographs show the pediment, the portico and the side panel.
