House-of-Culture mosaic, Moscovei
A mosaic on the House of Culture in the village of Moscovei, Cahul district, dated 1975 (the source gives a 1974–1975 range). The subject is not specified in the report; on the facade of the now-abandoned building a composition with a solar motif and a decorative meander (Greek-key) frieze along the cornice and portico can be made out. According to the source the work was made by an artist of Armenian origin, invited at the initiative of a Mr. Gaidarji. The building is in poor condition, but the mosaic survives. Moscovei is a commune-seat village in the eastern part of the Cahul district, on the road toward Taraclia. The work belongs to the group of Soviet mosaics of the Cahul district entered in the local Register of Category B public monuments (Cahul district council decision no. 03/07-V of 17 September 2020). A freely-licensed (CC0) photograph of the mosaic building was published on Wikimedia Commons in July 2025.
