A mosaic on the end wall of the House of Culture in Mașcăuți, a village in the Criuleni district of central Moldova. The horizontal figurative panel shows a row of figures in Moldovan folk costume — standing forms in white embroidered dress, one appearing to hold an instrument — in a cool range of blue, green and white: a festive or round-dance scene. The work belongs to the Soviet tradition of monumental mosaic on public buildings; in the 1960s–80s, Moldova's houses of culture and roadside halts were decorated in smalt and ceramic, usually by local craftspeople who went unnamed. The artist and year are undocumented. Mașcăuți is first attested on 17 July 1436 and stretches along the lower course of the Răut, near the Orheiul Vechi area (though a direct link to the reserve is not recorded in sources).
