House-of-Culture mosaic, Alexanderfeld
A mosaic on the House of Culture in the village of Alexanderfeld, Cahul district, made in 1975 when the building was erected. The theme is the beauty of the Moldovan land, the richness of the soil, folk costume and national values. The source does not name the maker; it records only that he came from Reni, a town in the Odesa region of Ukraine, just across the Prut from the Republic of Moldova. Alexanderfeld is a 19th-century colonist village (the German name means „Alexander's field”), today with a predominantly Moldovan population, in the south-east of the Cahul district. The source notes signs of deterioration in the mosaic. The work belongs to the group of Soviet mosaics of the Cahul district entered in the local Register of Category B public monuments (Cahul district council decision no. 03/07-V of 17 September 2020). No openly-licensed photograph of the panel exists.
