Mother and Child Centre mosaics
An ensemble of monumental art at the Mother and Child Centre (Institute) at 93 Burebista street, in Chișinău's Botanica district. Three figurative ceramic-tile panels survive on the buildings' facades — children at play (a wooden rocking horse, a girl with a skipping rope, a child holding a toy), a scene of maternal and child care marked with a Red Cross emblem, and further playful motifs — in warm reds, ochres, blues and whites with dark outlines. On the grounds, three artesian fountains faced in glass-smalt mosaic and titled "Copilărie" (Childhood) were made in 1980 by Filimon Hămuraru. A fourth, small ceramic-tile panel over the laboratory-building entrance was lost in the 2010s. The ensemble is unprotected; the authorship of the wall panels is undocumented.
