Bus-shelter mosaic, Ustia

A concrete bus shelter on the R50 road, just outside the village of Ustia (Dubăsari district), clad in an ornamental mosaic laid out like a carpet: squares of floral and geometric motifs in warm tones of orange, ochre and brown. Ploughed fields stretch away on every side — a quintessentially rural scene; rerouted roads have left many such shelters stranded alone in the middle of the fields. It is an anonymous Soviet-era work, part of the wave of mosaic-decorated bus stops raised along Moldova's roads in the 1960s–1980s; neither the artist nor the year of creation is documented. It does not appear in the "Mosaics of Moldova" inventory and is not registered as a monument. It was photographed by researcher Ștefan Susai for the album "Stații auto cu mozaic din Republica Moldova" (Cartier, 2026).
