A Soviet-era bus shelter with a mosaic panel stands at Sculeni, a village on the left bank of the Prut in Ungheni district, across the river from Sculeni in Iași county, Romania. The place has a long frontier past: first recorded in 1432 (as Lălești), it became a border market town with customs and quarantine on the edge of the Russian Empire in 1812, and today hosts one of the most important crossings between Moldova and Romania. On the road toward that crossing, the mosaic shelter belongs to the line of decorated stops built along Moldova's highways in the 1970s–1980s. The author, year and exact subject of the panel are undocumented, and the work is not yet photographed under a free licence; it is listed in the “Mosaics of Moldova” inventory.
