Bus-shelter mosaic, Morozeni

A roadside bus shelter with a mosaic in the commune of Morozeni, a village seat in the Orhei district of central Moldova. Unlike the rosette-and-flower stops nearby, this one leans on pure geometry: the walls and piers are covered in a checkerboard grid of tesserae, with square „framed” medallions and a Greek-key border, in blue, white and grey with accent squares of bright blue and yellow — a tiled-quilt effect. Stops like these, decorated by local craftsmen through the 1960s–80s, formed a small open-air museum along Moldova's highways. Morozeni is documented on 1 November 1614 and has around 800 inhabitants (2024). The panel's author and year are undocumented — an anonymous village work.
