Bus-shelter mosaic, Hristoforovca
A Soviet-era bus shelter decorated with mosaic marks the road at the edge of Hristoforovca, a village in the commune of Pîrlița in Ungheni district. The small village — first recorded in 1912 and grown on the estate of the boyar Hristofor, from whom it takes its name — held in Soviet years a section of the “Codrii” sovkhoz-factory of Cornești, specialised in fruit-growing and viticulture. Roadside shelters like this were built along Moldova's roads in the 1970s–1980s, each with its own composition in smalt or glazed ceramic. The author, year and exact subject of the Hristoforovca panel are undocumented, and the work is not yet photographed under a free licence; it is listed in the “Mosaics of Moldova” inventory.
