Bus-shelter mosaic, Goian

A roadside bus shelter with a mosaic on the Goian–Criuleni road, in the Criuleni district of central Moldova. The small box-type shelter has its end wall filled by a single large, symmetrical floral medallion: a four-lobed blossom with curling tendrils radiating from a central rosette, in red, gold, green and white on a turquoise-blue ground — a lively, folk-inspired ornament that turned the roadside stop into the village's „gateway” to the wider world. The name Goian is shared by several places in Moldova; this stop's location was confirmed from its coordinates (the Goian–Criuleni road, near Slobozia-Dușca, Criuleni district), but the published history of this particular Goian is thin. The mosaic's author and year are undocumented — an anonymous village work in the Soviet rural-mosaic-stop tradition.
