Bus-shelter mosaic, Ciubara

A Soviet-era mosaic on the bus shelter at Ciubara, a village of barely 240 people in Vasileuți commune, Rîșcani district, in the far north of Moldova. It is one of the many mosaic-clad bus stops built along Moldovan roads in the 1960s–1980s — the decorated village shelter being the region's signature contribution to Soviet roadside design, doubling as a meeting place and as the community's gateway to the wider world. The work is anonymous: no artist, year or description of the panel is recorded. It is catalogued in the „Mosaics of Moldova” (Buretz) inventory, photographed there by Nadejda Argint, but no openly-licensed photograph of the mosaic exists, so its appearance cannot be described from a verified source.
