House-of-Culture mosaics, Clocușna
Soviet-era mosaics on the facade of the House of Culture in the village of Clocușna, Ocnița district, northern Moldova — not in the town of Ocnița, as the district label might suggest, but in the commune of Clocușna northwest of the district seat. Decorating village houses of culture with mosaic panels was common practice in the Moldavian SSR, giving standardised public buildings a distinctive face. The author and year are undocumented; the work appears only in the „Mosaics of Moldova” inventory, photographed there by Anastasia Țurțurica. No freely licensed photograph shows the panels — the only image in open archives is a distant view of the building, in which the mosaic cannot be made out.
