„Hîncești-Gaz” facade mosaic, Hîncești
A Soviet-era mosaic on the facade of the „Hîncești-Gaz” enterprise building, in the town of Hîncești (Kotovsk in the Soviet era), the district seat in central Moldova on the Cogâlnic river. Unlike the figurative panels on the town's Palace of Culture, this work decorates an administrative-industrial building — the office of the local natural-gas distributor — and belongs to the Soviet habit of facing not only cultural and educational institutions with mosaic, but also enterprises and utility buildings. The work is undocumented: neither the artist, the year, nor the panel's subject is recorded in any accessible source, and its only attestation is the placemark in the „Mosaics of Moldova” (Buretz) inventory. No openly-licensed photograph of the mosaic exists, so its imagery cannot be described from a verified source.
