Former-hospital wall mosaic, Cruglic
A monumental mosaic on the wall of a former hospital building in Cruglic, a village in the Criuleni district of central Moldova. Unlike the ornamental bus-stop mosaics of the region, this is a thematic figurative composition tied to the building's function: two young people — a woman in a white doctor's coat and a bare-chested man — together raise a red flower-disc against a ground of blue water, green reeds and a golden pebble field; in the upper corner, the emblem of medicine, the snake-and-cup (Bowl of Hygieia). The lower wall is rendered in plaster, a sign the work once sat on a framed base. The village is documented on 3 September 1594 as „Crulic”, in a deed of Prince Aron Vodă, and has over 2,300 inhabitants (2014). The mosaic's author and year are undocumented — an anonymous Soviet-era work, preserved in situ.
